You might not think that jumping out of an airplane at 13,000 feet is a way to cope with post-traumatic stress disorder.
But a new program being tested at Fort Lewis aims to help returning soldiers readjust from a high-adrenaline combat zone to home life by offering high-adventure challenges to blow off steam.
More than 40 soldiers from the post's 2nd Squadron, 1st Cavalry Regiment of the 4th Stryker Brigade, which returned in June after a 15-month deployment to Iraq, will participate this week "Warrior Adventure Quest." WAQ, for short.
