Friends of Spc. Kevin Mowl let us know that he passed away yesterday at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. An entry at the CaringBridge website maintained by his family confirmed his passing. Mowl, 22, of Pittsford, N.Y., was injured by an IED attack in Baghdad last August and was receiving treatment for his injuries at Bethesda. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division (SBCT) based at Ft. Lewis, WA.

To the Family and Loved Ones of SPC Kevin Mowl: "I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours, to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of Freedom".....Abraham Lincoln. I extend my deepest sympathy upon the passing of your Hero, who made the ultimate sacrifice in the fight for freedom for the people of Iraq, and in the defense of his brothers and our grateful Nation. He will not be forgotten. Proud Father of G Co 3/2SCR Stryker.

SPC Kevin Mowl has gone on to his eternal reward. His pain and suffering have come to an end. May all those who loved him find some comfort in his peace. He gave his life to defend freedom, and he will always be remembered as a HERO. God has chosen a very special Band of Brothers to lead his Army. Know that you do not suffer alone. All who come here share your grief. We pray that God and His Angels will bear you up and heal you in the days to come.
