The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Spc. Todd E. Davis, 22, of Raymore, Mo., died Jan. 9 in Sinsil, Iraq, of wounds suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated during combat operations. He was assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment, 1st Armored Division, Vilseck, Germany.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and fellow soldiers.
To the family and loved ones of SPC Todd E. Davis: "I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours, to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of Freedom".....Abraham Lincoln.
It is with great sorrow that I extend my sympathy to you on the loss of your Hero, who gave all in the cause of freedom for the people of Iraq, and in the defense of his brothers and our grateful nation. SPC Davis will not be forgotten, and you will be remembered in my prayers. Proud father of a G Co 3-2SCR Stryker. gdb626@hotmail.com

To the family and loved ones of SPC Todd E. Davis: What wonderful tributes are being written about this young Hero. His parents and loved ones must take some comfort knowing of his incredible bravery; it rises and above and outshines the gloom of his passing.
It amazes me that our young Heroes have the fortitude in them to show such bravery and unselfish sacrifice at such early ages. How many of us are in our middle or late years and couldn't imagine having the inner strength to attempt the fearless actions of these young soldiers?
These men knew of numerous accounts of their peers being wounded or dying undertaking the exact same challenge that they have been asked to undertake. Being the best and the bravest, the followed their orders without question. What more could our country ask for?
I lost my own son in September of last year. His name was SGT Robert T. Ayres III. He was also with the 3/2 from Vilseck. Robert had been transferred from "A" Co to "G" Co. He was best friends with SGT Chris Sanders.
God bless you and keep you. Please let me know if there is anything I can do for you. Michelle Ayres
The body has died: the spirit it housed will never die.
On earth our dear ones do live on through those of us to whom they were so very precious.
God bless and keep you.

My thoughs and prayers go out to the Davis Family in their time of loss. I knew Todd because he played softball with my Husband here in Germany, he used to call me Mom along with a lot of the other guys. He was such a good guy and when I got the call my heart fell. I cannot begin to understand how you feel but I wish you all peace and Godspeed in the following days. My Husband really liked Todd, said he was a damn fine soldier and an all around good man. He will be greatly missed. Please know that you are all in my prayers.Todd will never be forgotten.
Go with God, young soldier. You have joined the ranks of the HERO Brigade. We will mourn with your loved ones, and keep them in our hearts and prayers. May God protect and guide your fellow soldiers as they carry on without you. Your sacrifice will remain in our hearts for a lifetime.
To the family and friends of SPC Todd E. Davis, I would like to share my condolences and appreciation to SPC Todd E. Davis! SPC Todd E. Davis is a Hero and deserves the Respect and Honor of a Hero! May the days ahead get easier for you knowing that SPC Todd E. Davis stood for something and protected our Freedom! He is a HERO in my eyes and I appreciate his ultimate sacrifice. He changed his picture on his myspace that he had of him and Todd in Germany. My son is with 3/2 SCR H Company and every loss it difficult for all in the Stryker Family!
