The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.
2nd Lt. Peter H. Burks, 26, of Dallas, Texas, died Nov. 14 in Baghdad, Iraq, of wounds suffered when his vehicle struck an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to the 4th Squadron, 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment, Vilseck, Germany.
We hope his family and friends find some measure of comfort from the thoughts and prayers of everyone here at Strykernews.

We pray that God is preparing for a very special mission, for He has called home another one of our HEROS. 2LT Peter Burks has given all that others might live in freedom. LT Burks is a real American Hero. He truly deserves a "Thank You LT" for his ultimate sacrifice.
"Evil flourishes when good men do nothing." LT Burk answered the call and gave his life in the fight against evil. I extend my utmost thanks and gratitude to his family in their time of sorrow and rememberance.
