Over 700 soldiers, family members and friends gathered at the headquarters of 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division today for the unveiling of a statue honoring the brigade’s fallen soldiers since its inception in 1995.
“These warriors gave the full measure,” said Col. Steven Townsend, the brigade’s commander, during yesterday’s unveiling of a statue honoring the brigade’s fallen warriors. “The work involved in creating this memorial is truly a work of love,” he added in a voice thick with emotion.
The majority of the brigade’s fallen warriors come from its two deployments to Iraq.
