I'm his brother in law. His wife, Nicole, is my sister. He has a daughter named Melody June Olsen.
We're all pretty crushed about this. We're still in a state of shock and are trying to figure out how to handle the situation.

Nicholas' Family;
I'm your Uncle Dennis's (from Sonoma) sister-in-law, and I just want to say how truly sorry I am, because I just don't know what else to say. I have Nicholas's family picture from when he was on leave on our family wall of Heroes in my cafe. Please email me directly your emails & addresses. I remember Nicholas and Miyko from your cousin Amanda's wedding. Nicholas, Amanda's Nicholas & my boys all played together that day. I am just truly so sorry, I just can't imagine your pain. My Jacob is on his 2nd tour now, and my daughter Ashley is Air force, and your cousin Nick is Navy. Please email me. Liz

SPC Olsen, you have joined the ranks of the HEROS who now march in God's Army. Your earthly mission is complete, and now we pray that you will rest in peace. Please keep watch over your fellow soldiers who carry on despite the pain in their hearts. To Nicole and Melody, know that your sacrifice will never be forgotten, and Nick will now be your Guardian Angel. To all of SPC Olsen family, loved ones and brothers in arms, I pray that you find strength and comfort knowing that we all share your burden. We pray that the Angels will wrap you in their protection as you travel this most difficult path. You will remain in our hearts and prayers.

Miyko and Anita: This is Karli. I dated Nick when he was a senior in high school. After we broke up he was still my best friend. I hadn't seen him in about 18 months and I missed him while he was home because I had to go back to school. He was one of the most amazing people I ever knew. There was a light in Nick that no one could ever extinguish. He changed my life and that of my family and we all will miss and love him forever. Please feel free to e-mail me at any time. You are all in my prayers and always in my heart.

To the family and friends of SPC Nicholas P. Olson, I give you my condolences. What a hard and trying time this must be for you all. Nick is a hero and an amazing man and you can rest assured that he is watching us at Gods' right hand. To die fighting for what you believe in is truly an honor reserved for very few. To his wife and baby girl - his time on earth with the both of you was far too short. Cherish the times you did have together. This will be an incredibly trying time for you both. You are in my heart and in my prayers. Your husband & daddy was such an inspiration and such a blessing to our country. Be proud of where you come from little one - your father was one amazing man!

This is very hard for me these 3 soldiers that died in alpha co. 2-23 i trained with for the last 2-3 years.i personally knew them all. i was unfortunate do to surgeries to not get to deploy with them. i knew Olson the best though and before he was in 2nd platoon he was in head quaters platoon with me and same squad. we worked side by side he armor me in supply. we did alot of work together and have had alot of memories together as friends. i store my atv trailer at his house bc i live on base and i have not had the heart to go tell nicole in person wat everyone already has told her. and am haveing a hard time to go visit her.and nothing can bring him or them back. the fort lewis memorial was the other day i was privleged to meet and see his parents. his likeness of his dad is so similiar and i could see nick in him.i shook his dads hands and introduced myself. i wanted to tell him all the good times i had with his son and much more. but in short to olson,landry and valentine. u all were my battle buddies for the last 2-3 years and we trained and worked very hard together to get ready for iraq. i am speechless in wat i can say and all i can say is i will truely miss u all and i hope that God can help the families find peace with there deaths.my family and i will always remember them and there sacrifice. THESE WERE MY FRIENDS, NOW MY HEREOS.
