SPC Donald E. Valentine III

The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Spc. Donald E. Valentine III, 21, of Orange Park, Fla., died Sept. 18 in Muqdadiyah, Iraq, of wounds sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated near his unit during combat operations. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division (Stryker Brigade Combat Team), Fort Lewis, Wash.

We wish to extend our condolences to his family, friends, and fellow soldiers.

Dear Valentine Family, We wanted to let you know how sorry we are for the loss of Spc. Valentine. Our son Spc. Joseph Landry died with Donald and Spc. Olson. Ours hearts are broken along with yours and the Olson family. As we say our goodbyes to Joey, we will be praying for the other families dealing with such a great hardship. I feel in my heart and spirit to keep posting here even when my son came back last week and I beleive I will do it until the last one come home. I pray to God that those related to Spc. Valentine will recieve strengh and peace in this time of sadness, we will always remember those who gave all. Rest in peace "hero".
