Go with God, soldier. Your mission is complete. You have earned your peace. For those left behind, I pray that your sorrow will be replaced with comfort in the knowledge that your entire Stryker Family mourns with you. We will keep you in our hearts and prayers. SPC A J Walker, your sacrifice will remain in our thoughts for a lifetime.

Hey AJ... I know you're in heaven now and that's where you said you always wanted to be. You always lived your life to the fullest. Never letting any fear keep you from experiencing everything this world had to offer-- Not even the fear of death. One time you told me that the Bible said "fear is not of God" and Jessica "if it's not of God then who else could it be from?" You may not realize it, but those words have stuck w/ me ever since that day.
I know that you don't want us to be sad for you right now, but knowing that I'll never see you on earth again is a hard thing to realize. I think that if I knew the last time I saw you was the very last time I'd ever see you I would've told you how much fun I always had w/ you (remember the time you skipped school to hang out w/ me?) And I probably would have told you how good of a friend you were (remember when you prayed w/ me at camp?) AJ-- just know that the short time God allowed you to His work was well spent. Your life touched more people than you'll ever know.

My thoughts and prayers are with this young man's family. I am so deeply sorry for your loss. We'll keep SPC Walker's family in our prayers. Fair winds and following seas SPC Walker.

Walker....I didn't know you well, but Wilhite did. My husband Wilhite is a good deal older than most of you and looked at you guys younger in the platoon like his kids...his family. He is taking it hard....because he was there....first thing he said to me on the phone when I heard from him since it happened was...no matter if our unborn baby is a boy or girl...middle name will be Walker. He keeps a picture of you in his IBA and a second picture in arms reach. The platoon, company, squadron and all of them know that you are looking down on them and watching over. They will always keep you in remeberance. You where that kind of guy that touched everyone's hearts you met. I even called you family the first time I met you....due to you and my Grandpa having same last name. Walker will always have a powerful double meaning to my husband and I. We will never forget what you sacrificed for us all. Thank you for being brave and being a heroe to us.

Nichole Wilhite
Wife of SPC Wilhite 4th PLt/ G-co/ 3/2 SCR

Thank you all for your kind words and heartfelt prayers. We are so very proud of AJ and are honored by our sons service and ultimate sacrifice for his country, that he loved so dearly. We continue to pray for all of the soldiers, especially those who fought bravely alongside our son. May the Lord keep you safe! We only knew that one of his best friends, Green, was by his side when he died. To others who were there, thank you for your service. AJ loved his 'band of brothers'. We love you!
Our love & blessings are with you always.

Dear AJ,

I am writing to you to let you know how much we miss you. Sometimes you don’t realize what you have, until you don’t have it anymore. I have spent the last week realizing what I will miss. I have had many friends young and old. Many are friends that I have conversation with in passing. Less are those that I socialize or hang out with. Less of those are younger friends that closely bond with me and my entire family. You are definitely in the inner circle AJ. I recall many times that you would come over to our house to hang out with us in a group setting or just by yourself. This I will miss.

AJ I really appreciate how you took a leadership role with my only child John in his life. He loves you and looks up to you just like an older brother. He always talked about AJ. He couldn’t wait until AJ would come over. He couldn’t wait to tell AJ about anything new in his life. He turned to AJ for advise in time of trouble. John could not wait until AJ got to come back home after his away assignment for the US Army. Since AJ was so cool and cares so much for John. John could not wait to have another great Paintball War at our house, since they have never been quite the same without AJ there. John could not wait until AJ got home to ride in John’s new truck. This bond of friendship I will miss.

I recall the funniest thing that you ever did was during a snack break at my house during one of our many Great Paintball Wars. You were fresh out of US Army Basic Training. We were all sitting in the living room enjoying our drinks, when you took some of you mischievous basic training skills and concocted a pepper gas device out of an MRE. You then tossed it the room that we were all in. You laughed and ran out, knowing what was next. It took a while for the thing to take full effect, but when it did it was wild. The entire house was filled with the overwhelming pepper gas. Everybody was coughing, laughing, and running out of the house. This I will miss.

I recall your youth leadership in GC Crew by example. When you were playing the drums during a powerful worship song, I remember you without hesitation stepping out from behind the drums and to the side. I remember you kneeling down on your knees and without shame raising your hands as you sang and worshipped your Lord Jesus. This I will miss.

AJ you have the heart of a giver. You have the desire to serve. You are as a first responder. Everybody runs away from the fight. You ran to the fight. To stand in the gap for those who were weak and unable. To protect those who needed a protector. From your friend. From the one that you volunteered to protect. On behalf of my family whom you chose to protect. We love you AJ. We will miss you AJ.

AJ Walker is an American Hero, a man that loved God, and the son of my friends and pastor. AJ has left behind a legacy. A legacy that will be remembered by many. A legacy that he never knew was in the making. I only met AJ once, but his smile will remain in my heart forever. For those of you who were blessed to befriend and love AJ, I say continue his legacy. Love your neighbor, your enemies, and God the way AJ did. When your heart aches at his memory and the thought of his loss remember this, AJ has been welcomed home by the words we long to hear from our Father in heaven, "Well done, my good and faithful servant."

I am so sorry for your loss. My prayers and thoughts are with you and your family. He is a hero.

My brother was with Aaron when he died. Shane was one of the medics during some of his final moments and was overcome by Aaron's passing. I can only imangine the grief that your family is enduring, and please know that the thoughts of our family are with yours. I am so sorry for your loss.
