The hardest thing for the people of America to remember is that "Freeedom is Not Free." It is because of heroes like SFC Scheibner that we have these wonderful freedoms and our children can go to school without fear of being attacked.
There are no words that can truly express how sorry I am for your loss of this American hero. May the Lord be with you in this time of need and always.

SFC Daniel Scheibner, your sacrifice is a gift of freedom to all, and we will never forget your courage. Your entire Stryker Family shares the pain that is borne by your family, friends and fellow soldiers. As they travel this most difficult road, we will keep them in our hearts and prayers. May you rest in God's Arms, and watch over all of your brothers until this war is over. You will forever join the ranks of our HEROS. God bless and keep all who love you.

SFC Dan Scheibner was a section chief and gunnery sergeant for me as a battery xo in the 82d abn division. he exemplified what is best and right about our nco corps. trully a leader of men and mentor to peers, subordinates, and leaders alike. he will be missed.
i have many fond memories of him, shooting charge eight missions out of campbell's crossroad's at fort bragg, reenlisting him on an aircraft prior to a drop zone mission (of which a picture sets on my desk to this day), and being schooled on both the pantel site and aiming circle when he was my gunnery sergeant.
to his family i cannot begin to even express my sympathy in your grief but know that dan touched many people. he will live on in the hearts and minds of his friends with whom he was quick to share a joke or a smile.
SFC Scheibner, rest in peace and may God keep you in his ever lasting glory.
All the Way, Airborne.
your friend
