What a shame to even think about doing a group memorial...these troops deserve their own. I cannot even believe someone came up with the idea of doing it and even post it on the internet.
Actually, this is a good thing. They were going to just impose the group memorials, and it caused such an uproar in the community that they're now asking what people thing.
It is not fair to the departed or their families to even consider doing a "mass memorial". If this base is looking for a way to cut costs don't send our men and women to fight this war, that will cut a lot of cost. Not only the monetary costs, but the cost of the most important thing, lives. Who ever was the brains of this "option" is an idiot, and should be demoted from their position at this base. HOW DARE YOU EVEN CONSIDER THIS AS AN OPTION!!!!!!
To be honest, I can't believe that anyone would even think of this. Each one of our soldiers is making a huge sacrifice just by being over there away from loved ones and in harms way. Some of them make the biggest of sacrifices by giving their lives for this country.... the least we can do is sacrifice some time to memorialize each of them.... individually, for the fallen and their families.
