SGT Danny R. Soto

The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Sgt. Danny R. Soto, 24, of Houston, Texas, died June 16 in Rashidiyah, Iraq, of wounds suffered when the vehicle he was in struck an improvised explosive device. Soto was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 12th Field Artillery Regiment, 4th Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division (Stryker Brigade Combat Team), Ft. Lewis, Wash.

We would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the loved ones he leaves behind.

My heart breaks at the news of the loss of Sgt Soto. May God grant the family, friends, and brothers in arms of this American hero peace and comfort. I shall never forget your sacrifice. Rest in Peace Sgt Soto.
