SGT Tyler J. Kritz

The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Sgt. Tyler J. Kritz, 21, of Eagle River, Wis. died June 3 in Thania, Iraq, of wounds suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 37th Field Artillery Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division (Stryker Brigade Combat Team), Fort Lewis, Wash.

During this difficult time, we hope his loved ones can draw strength and comfort from those of us who hold you in our thoughts.

My heart felt condolences to the family, friends and brothers in arms of this brave soldier. Praying that God keeps you in the palms of his hands and gives you comfort and peace during these difficult days. You sacfrice will never be forgotten.

Words can never truly heal the sorrow that you are feeling at this time. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. Tyler was a true American hero that was willing to give his life so others might be free and I thank him. May he rest in peace and may the Lord be with
