The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Sgt. Freeman L. Gardner Jr., 26, of Little Rock, Ark., died Mar. 22 in Baghdad, Iraq, of wounds suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near his unit while on combat patrol. He was assigned to the 18th Engineer Company, 3rd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry
Division, Fort Lewis, Wash.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and fellow soldiers. We will add any future articles we find to this entry.

I will be praying for you and your family. I'am very sorry for the loss of your Soldier. He life was given in Honor and Compassion for this Countries continued Freedom. I will always keep him in my heart. May God Bless and keep you.

My prayers go out to the family, friends and soldiers working with SSG Gardner. This brave young man will never be forgotten. May God give you the strength to go on each day until you meet with Freeman again.

I'm so sorry for your loss. My heart and prayers go out to the Family of Sgt. Gardner. He will always be remembered as a heroe. My boyfriend happened to know him very well and said it was an honor to fight beside him.
