FORWARD OPERATING BASE LOYALTY, Iraq – Soldiers with 18th Engineer Company, 3rd Brigade Combat Team rescued a hostage and detained the suspected kidnappers Dec. 23 in east Baghdad.
The kidnap victim caught the Soldiers’ attention by waving in distress from a vehicle. After making the rescue and detaining two suspects, Soldiers discovered a weapons cache in the vehicle.
The troops discovered 10 anti-tank mines, three improvised explosive devices, two IED initiator systems, 36 57mm rockets and a box of cell phones.
The two detained suspects are in military custody and the weapons cache was confiscated.
