BAGHDAD, Iraq – A patrol from 1st Squadron, 14th Cavalry Regiment detained one man and seized several weapons caches during a routine patrol here Dec 15.
An afternoon patrol of the Hadar neighborhood in southeast Baghdad observed a man throwing an AK-47 rifle behind a tree as they approached. The man was detained, and the patrol began to search the surrounding area for other weapons.
A total of two assault rifles, three 60mm mortar rounds and a mortar system were recovered during the two-hour search.
The suspect has been detained for further questioning.
