FORWARD OPERATING BASE LOYALTY, Iraq – In an effort to reduce sectarian violence and insurgency activities, the Iraqi security forces and Iraqi police are teaming with Soldiers from the 5th Battalion, 20th Infantry Regiment (Stryker) to secure Adhamiyah today.
In a coordinated effort dubbed ‘Operation Cougar,’ Iraqi security forces and coalition forces are conducting a cordon-and-clear operation in Adhamiyah early this morning with Iraqi police forces providing perimeter checkpoint security.
This operation is part of a larger on-going effort from the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Defense to establish security for the local residents in eastern Baghdad through the lead efforts of Iraqi security forces with over-watch support from coalition troops.
