Rest of Strykers to move to Baghdad

MICHAEL GILBERT; The News Tribune

Fort Lewis soldiers stationed in Mosul are headed south to join their Stryker comrades working in the embattled Iraqi capital, a news service reported Wednesday.

Citing unnamed Pentagon sources, The Associated Press reported that the 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division would be leaving Mosul as part of the U.S. military’s plans to beef up its presence in Baghdad.

About 1,500 3rd Brigade soldiers have been operating in Baghdad since the unit left Fort Lewis last June for its second deployment in Iraq, scheduled to last a year.

The move reported Wednesday would apparently reunite the brigade headquarters and its remaining 2,500 soldiers with the units in the capital.

A brigade spokesman, Maj. Rob Parke, declined to respond to inquiries earlier this month from The News Tribune about reports that troops were moving out of Mosul to Baghdad. He couldn’t be reached Wednesday. [...]

These soldiers and their families are in my thoughts and prayers always.

God be with you. You are in our continual prayers.

My thoughts and prayers will be with the 3rd. 2nd. Stryker Brigade as they meet the challenges ahead of them... God speed to our valiant soldiers, sailors, marines and all of our service people... May God look over them while they are in harm's way...

My son is one of the brave men that are now in Baghdad. I'm proud of him for the choices that he has made and pray for his safety continually. Thank you for your continued support!

Our prayers are with our guys in the 3-2 and their families everyday. Thank you for your courage - we are proud of you. Take care and stay strong. We love you.

As the mother of one of the 3-2 headed for Baghdad, I can't pretend I am happy about this, but I AM glad that the 172nd is finally going home for real, they certainly deserve it. The only bright light of this deployment had been that they were in Mosul and not Baghdad. So much for that. :(

Bless you all ... stay safe ... and come home soon!

To my 5-20 3/2 Arrowhead Son, his fellow troops in battle, and all that support them in this hugh effort...

"Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. (Continue to) protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. Amen."

My son also belongs to the to the 3-2. Does anyone have a mailing address for them yet? He was home on leave and actually went back. He called from Kuwait on the 27th and I haven't heard from him since. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

My son is also with the 3-2, Bravo Battery 1/37 FA to be exact. I too am thrilled for the families of the 172nd and reeling with pain over the move into Baghdad for our boys. It isn't like we didn't expect it to come at some time but that sure doesn't make it easier.

I pray for each of our sons and daughters each and every day and for all of the family members because Lord knows that we didn't sign up for this like our loved ones did but we go through the hardship of it just the same. We will never know what all they go through and thankfully they don't know our end of it either...it would make it so much harder for all of us to take on each other's burdens too.

I am 13BravoMom on myspace.com and my email is 13BravoMom@sbcglobal.net for any of you parents, spouses or siblings out there from the 1/37 or the 3-2...the more info we can share right now the better as our loved ones will probably not be in contact as often now.
