The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Staff Sgt. Paul S. Pabla, 23, of Fort Wayne, Ind., died on July 3 in Mosul, Iraq, of injuries sustained from enemy small arms fire during combat operations. Pabla was assigned to the Army National Guard's 139th Field Artillery, Kempton, Ind.
We would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the loved ones SSG Pabla leaves behind. Any subsequent articles we find will be added to this entry.
Our heartfelt prayers to your family, we live in Indiana and our son is in Mosul right now, may God be with you during this time of sorrow and know your son is a true hero. Godspeed
Everytime we moms check in to read this site, and see we've all lost another precious life, our hearts catch in our throat because we know that fear all too well! We weep for you... May God touch you and let you know that your child is with Him and safe, and may you know that our prayers are for your strength and courage... May you know the courage your Hero lived everyday of his life! God Bless you! -Matthew's Mom
To the family, friends and fellow soldiers of SSG Paul, my thoughts and prayers go out to you during this most difficult time. Paul is an Amerian Hero and will always be remembered. He is now serving in Gods' army. May the good Lord give you the strength for day to day living until you meet Paul again. Your in my prayers!

I do not know Paul or his family but I'm from the Ft Wayne area and when I saw his picture in the paper, it was a painful reminder of the price some pay in this war. It is so easy for people like me, who don't know anyone involved in the war, to forget how costly and painful it can be, we have no idea what it's like.
What a beautiful young man... it's so sad to think that he's gone at such a young age, and then on the other hand, you know that he probably wouldn't have it any other way.
To Paul's family, I am so very sorry for your loss, you are in my prayers. God bless.
