Comment spam continues to be a time consuming administrative problem for our site. We've installed specialized software and taken other defensive measures, but almost daily we still experience spam attacks. Consequently, we've decided to take the next step, which is to implement a commenter registration system.
From now on you will be required to register with TypeKey before leaving a comment. This is a quick, one-time registration. Once you are registered and approved you will be able to leave comments on this and many other TypeKey enabled websites. Please feel free to visit the TypeKey website to learn more about this service.
We understand that this adds an extra burden on our visitors, but we feel this is a better solution than disabling the comment system altogether. Thanks for your understanding.

This is a welcome improvement! I wish I had a dollar for every spam comment I've processed in the past 9 months.
It is sad that this has become necessary but unwanted spam has become more than just an annoyance. This is certainly an easy way to keep out spam and keep this site available to those for whom it means so much. Thank you Todd.
Hello, I just wanted to say that I enjoy your site. My son is with the 172nd Stryker Brigade out of Ft. Wainwright, Alaska. He just recently left in August to go to Iraq. I try to read your information daily. I just wanted to say to my son, be safe, be strong and your family loves you and prays for your safe return. Also our thoughts and prayers go out to all the troops over there. We are very proud of our soldiers. All of you come home soon!
