Make A Bed For A Soldier

Jul-16-2005 » Filed Under: Charitable Projects

Here's a great chance to help with the homecoming for the 1st Brigade 25th Infantry Division (1/25).

MAKE A BED FOR A SOLDIER - The Chamber of Eastern Pierce County, as part of its Community Connector program with the 1/25 Stryker Brigade, is working with the businesses in the community to support the single soldiers who are returning from deployment. We are starting a campaign called "Make A Bed For A Soldier" to collect donations of new twin-sized sheets, light weight blankets, pillows and cases, as well as Welcome Home cards. The 1/25 Stryker Brigade has approximately 2,000 single soldiers that will be coming home late this summer. Please help us in saying Thank You to them for their dedicated service and sacrifice. If you are a business that would like to be a drop off point, please call The Chamber and we will provide boxes and a sign to hang advertising that you are a participant. If you are unable to do the shopping, we can do it for you! To sponsor a soldier, please send your donation of $25 per soldier to The Chamber of Eastern Pierce County, PO Box 1298, Puyallup, 98371. Please call the office to donate using a credit card. For more information, please contact Connie Buschman at: 253-845-6755. All items and monetary donations are needed by August 31st. Thank you for such a great thought.
My single solider will be returning.
And this is a cool thing to do.

What about married soldiers? Dont they deserve support too?

This is just a comment to Jane. Of course married soldiers deserve support to but most are going home to sleep in their own beds with their spouses. Single soldiers are going home to sleep in the barracks. The married soldiers will be taken care of.

Nice work! Our home is in So Calif and we feel fortuate our son is on the West Coast back in WA! Please keep this program up and publicize it! Our single soldiers need to feel that the military family is looking out for their comforts after their duty in Iraq. Our check will be in the mail this week and we will get our extended family to donate, too. Thank you all as this makes the Stryker Family better! Hopefully our Stryker son can be home in Sept. 05. 12 months is enough.....

Lensch family

Want to say how proud I'm of our troops, I need work done and help at my furniture store, where all military get a discount for furniture in need regardless if they need furniture or work. I will want to donate in anyway I can

Jane, There are a lot of ways to donate to ALL of the soldiers and their homecomings through FRG's, if that is what you would like to do. This is just one way to support our single soldiers when they get back and a fabulous one too! Hope that helps.
