Jul-14-2005 » Filed Under: Tributes

We recieved an email from Jane informing us that her sprint race car was damaged in a crash on July 2nd. Provided below is her update, and you can read our previous entry for the full story. They are working to get the car up and running again. If you'd like to contact Jane directly you can send an email to ladybug105us@yahoo.com.

There was a very neat article done about it in the
local paper here. It appeared in the paper on Friday
the 1st of July - On the 2nd we took the car to the
local track - we had the car put out in front of the
grandstands for all fans to see - I also did a couple
poster boards of pictures which my son has been
emailing, the pictures also included one of Brandon
Huff and one of Adam Plumodore as his mom contacted me
after the article was posted on your site. I
explained to all who stopped about the stryker brigade
and how proud of all our soldiers I was. I talked in
length about Adam and Brandon (who is currently at
Walter Reed). Not one person left the car without
wiping away tears. Several of them were sobbing
uncontrolably as they walked away. Before the national
anthem played the car was pushed out on to the track
as they were doing a tribute to it. The track had
hired an ocapelo quartet to sing the national anthem
and a song called I believe. I was out in the infield
videoing the whole thing and I could zoom in on fans
and most of them were crying. After the national
anthem the announcer spoke of the car and what it
symbolized, he was in tears before he finished which
of course put me back in tears - when he was done
announcing the car - he asked the fans to remain
standing as the car would do 7 hotlaps for the 7
fallen soldiers named on the top wing of the car.
When the car made it's final lap the crowds cheering
was deafening.

Later that night - a driver pulled a stupid move and
hit our car, this time he spun himself out, a normal
procedure is for that guy to go to the back of the
field, but for some reason he was not put back there,
next lap he did the same thing but this time he
flipped our car, to say the least I was extremley
upset. The top wing which I had worked so hard on to
show everyone our support for our soldiers was
destroyed. That was not all the damage but at the
time it was the most important to me. At first we
decided we would get an old wing and throw it on the
car to finish the season. I could not bear for this
beautiful car to go on the track that way - as all
that it stood for is on that top wing. Members of the
support group asked how they could help, and asked if
they could donate some money to get it back up and
running...

Thanks,

Jane

Comments For "Race Car Tribute - Update":

Jane,

I am sorry to hear about the race car. I know it means a lot to the Soldiers for what it stands for and who it represents, I know Adam would be proud, and it means a lot to me. I wish I could help with the "elbow grease" .... or "fingernail grease" as the case may be. I am sending some support, it's not much, but I hope it helps. Thank you for all that you do to support our Soldiers.
