MOSUL, IRAQ (June 9, 2005) – Troops from 3rd Battalion, 3rd Brigade Iraqi Intervention Force successfully rescued a hostage in southeastern Mosul thanks to a lead given by an Iraqi citizen Wednesday.
During a cordon and search operation of the kidnappers’ house the IIF overcame a small arms fire attack from terrorists coming from the house, rescued the hostage, a local reporter, and also detained one individual suspected of being involved in the kidnapping. The IIF also confiscated a number of weapons and other materials from the kidnappers’ house. The hostage was treated for minor injuries sustained during the kidnapping.
