Civilians again targeted in terrorist attacks

MOSUL, IRAQ (June 7, 2005) – Four innocent Iraqi civilians were killed and another injured during terrorist attacks in northern Iraq today.

Four Iraqi civilians were killed when their vehicle was attacked with small arms fire by terrorists in eastern Mosul and one Iraqi civilian was injured during a terrorist carjacking in western Mosul. The injured civilian was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Numerous terrorist attacks over the past week have targeted or disregarded innocent civilians. Attacks over that period have killed 15 and injured at least 13 in northern Iraq.

Iraqi Police uncover large weapons cache

MOSUL, IRAQ (June 7, 2005) – Iraqi Police seized a large weapons cache during a search operation south of Mosul today. The cache included several rocket propelled grenades, artillery rounds, mortar rounds and rockets, RPG launchers and other firing systems, artillery fuses, 1,000 mortar charges, and 1,000 rounds of small arms ammunition. The weapons were confiscated for future destruction.
