Army Staff Sergeant Scott Thorne will be throwing out the ceremonial first pitch before the Chicago Cubs v. San Diego Padres baseball game at PETCO Park in downtown San Diego on Thursday, June 2, 2005 at approximately 1900 hours (7 p.m.) PDT. The game will be covered by ESPN, Channel Four on Cox Cable in San Diego, via live webcast on MLB.TV (however you get on that) and possibly on WGN (Channel Nine) Chicago, which usually broadcasts Cubs games. There is no way to tell if anybody will show the first pitch ceremonies, as usually the sports talkers speak about the upcoming game through even the National Anthem, but if I get the chance, I'll try to talk them into being quiet for a few moments.
As I told my friends when Scott was deployed, "This gives the rest of the country the chance to be as proud of him as his parents are."
Hi Steve,
thanks for letting us know about Scott's pitching in San Diego tomorrow. It's great to see how some are trying to honor our brave wounded soldiers.

Steve, I am sure that Scott will be the highlight of the game, especially if the announcer does his job. I agree, he will throw a perfect STRYKE. Way to go, and a big HOOOOAAAH to both of you.
No radar gun on Scott's head, my friends. He's already had enough energy directed at it to power a small city. Got asked to write the introduction by the Padres this afternoon. We'll see how much of it they use.
Hey Scott, I'm an old friend of your Aunt Karen and when I heard how you were doing I really wanted to send out my prayers and best wishes. Not enough recognition for the survivors, you are a hero in my book.
Prayerfully,
Megan
Scott,
Seeing you on WGN tonight made my week! You looked wonderful and we are so proud of you and all the SOLDIERS you represent! The only person prouder than we are is that great father of yours. Stay strong. We love you!

Hi I got in touch with the director of WGN Sports & they showed Scott throwing out the first pitch on that Channel as well . All I did was tell him I had adopted soldiers from the Stryker unit & our guys & his folks would love to see him on TV . I think they did a nice job they even mentioned my name for doing it . Hope Scotts Folks get to see it ! God Bless Our Soldiers !
It was a very good night for us (and the Cubs' pitcher). If HorseMomma could try to find out how we could get a tape of the event, we'd be very happy to have it. The Padres used about a third of what I wrote, but that's ok. We've got some pictures and they'll find their way here eventually.
Hi Steve , I'm trying to find someone who recorded it as we speak . I dont know if it was as elaborate as ESPN or the pads channel as I couldnt see either of those& I didnt have any other info about Scott to give them other than he was a great soldier & was from the Stryker unit . But they showed it & usually they dont show opposing teams celebrity first pitches . I didnt even know for sure they were going to do it till I seen it , for me it was a shot in the dark & much to my suprise it paid off . Scott looked GREAT ! I'm on the message board here & you can pm me through there . I know one thread you can find my name is under the 1/25 topic Wil Edens was a good man & soldier , You can pm me through that HorseMomma . I'm trying to get ahold of the tv station as well thats not an easy chore this morning the guy who helped me is still in California but I'll keep ya informed on here till we can get in touch on the board . Hugs HorseMomma
