Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.

My thoughts and prayers are with SFC Bordelon's family and friends. I'm so sorry you have to go down this dark path, but I pray that you will be comforted by wonderful memories and the knowledge that your soldier will forever be etched on our hearts as an American Hero.

We join our prayers to the others for the Bordelon family. SFC Bordelon had written us a letter just a week before he was injured; a beautiful glimpse into the last few days of our son Thomas, who was killed in November. Michael was clearly an exceptional man, who cared deeply about his soldiers.

I think CPT Bryan Carroll said it best in his farewell message to Bravo Co.-"1SG Bordelon was the one soldier that he placed on a pedestal and said every soldier could aspire to be like him, He was the Best the soldier could be.
May the road rise up to meet you and until we meet again may God hold you in the palm of his hand.
God Bless Mila, the children and his family. God Bless our soldiers.
StrykerMom

Dear Family and Friends of 1SG Bordelon,
With much sorrow and tears I read the following email from our son, Dustin, this morning telling us that 1SG Bordelon had passed away:

"1SG Mike Bordelon passed away yesterday due to the injuries he recieved on April 23rd. His wife and parents were with him. He is the third to die of the eight that were on the vehicle that day. The doctors said that it is a testament to his strength that he lived through the first night, much less the nearly three weeks since then. He was a great man and it was an honor to work for him."
Dustin

After Dustin was injured from a car bomb on April 10th he tried to report for duty after 3 days. 1SG Bordelon told him he was restricted to the base for 10 days and wouldn't let him out of the wire. I told Dustin to thank him for me, but don't know if he ever did. I had hoped to thank him myself someday for looking after my son. Our thoughts and prayers will be with all of you. May God be your comfort and strength.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family, friends and fellow soldiers. God has called a good man home.

You family is in our thoughts. My husband trained in Ft. Sam Houston, and is now at Ft. Lewis. The reality of all of this hit home when I read your article. What brave men (and women) we have defending us. A big thank you goes to your son, from our family. God bless.

My heart breaks for the family of this fallen soldier. He will not be forgotten in the hearts of the stryker family. May God comfort you all during this tough hour, days, months, and years to come. May he rest in peace. I pray for all of the troops, especially those that gave it all. May God Bless the family.

Stryker Mom of a B Co. 1-5 inf. soldier.

Regards from my soldier to your family also.

God bless this hero and my deepest sympathy to his family. He will not be forgotten by his fellow soldiers and friends. My prayers are with you all.

To The Family and Friends of 1SGT Bordelon,

You have our deepest sympathy, and please know that all of you are in our thoughts and prayers and the sacrifice you have all made will never be forgotten. May God bless and help guide you through the days ahead, and may 1SGT Bordelon rest in peace as he watches over all of you. This American hero remains forever in all of our hearts and we thank him for being such a brave and courageous soldier serving his country with such honor.

I am truly saddened to hear about the loss of another soldier. Although I know condolences offer little in way of comfort, please accept mine. The soldiers injured in the bomb have been in my thoughts and I am sorry to hear that another has lost his fight. Please know that you are in my prayers. God bless.

My heart sank when I learned of this tragedy. My deepest sympathy goes out to his family. He and his family will be remembered in our prayers. I will treasure the letters I received from Mike so long ago. His family cannot be thanked enough for the sacrafice they have made.

To my brother and his family I offer the ANZAC ode:

They shall not grow old as we who are left grow old,
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn,

At the going down of the sun and in the morning we will remember them,

Lest we forget.

To the children of Michael Bordelon, please know that your father was one of the good guys. He was funny but respectful, and a model soldier with endless amounts of integrity. Anyone that knew him here in SETAF (Vicenza, Italy) would have the same things to say. He was the one you would want on your side when it came down to making things happen. It was no surprise to any of us that he put the lives of others before thinking about himself, the mark of a true hero. Wear the Bordelon name proudly...you have reason to hold your heads high.

Mila and children, may God bless you and keep you. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Mark and Jane Santaw, Vicenza , Italy

Mila, Jacob and Johanna, Know that michael was our loss too. We miss our neighbor and friend(Cassie cried when Johanna left) Take comfort in knowing Mike made the world a better place. See you when you get home. James, Sylvia and Family

1SG Michael Bordelon was my husband's former 1SG and a great man! Our thoughts and prayers are with your family. We have lost yet another true hero. May God be with your family.

Mike,
You would be proud of your boys today, they did great by you. We miss you brother and we'll look after things as best we can.

I had the pleasure of being 1SG Bordelon's MEV VC from the first time arrived here in the Duece until a couple of months ago. All of here in Duece Four shall miss him dearly, he was truly a wonderful person of character and quality. Many of us really looked up to him. He touched many of our hearts with his calm comical way. After the memorial many of the soldiers stayed behind and mourned the loss of 1SG, They kept saying "Hit it 1SG!" as they walked up to salute his photo. We all gathered around his photo to support eachother and honor him. We all love him very much and will never ever forget everything he gave to us. Our deepest prayers go out to the family, we wish you strength through these times.

What a terrible tragedy. May God Bless the Bordelon family during this time of loss. As a former 1SG in 1-24, this hit my husband pretty hard...as it does whenever we get news like this. Be proud of him...obviously he was a fantastic person and a great NCO. He walks with the angels now and is watching over us all. Again, our deepest sorrows.

Mila, please let me know if you and the kids need anything. You are all in our thoughts and prayers. And Mike, you will be greatly missed! You are a true friend and hero!

Mrs. Dee, Mr. Bruce, & Doreen,
You guys are like a 2nd family to us. We can not begin to express our sympathy. I especially am grateful and honored to be able to have known Mike as a friend, a "brother", and as a fellow soldier. We love you! Please let us know if you need anything!

Love and prayers,
Tee

I meet Mike through Telesia at Ft Bragg in 1999.
Although the meeting was brief his loss is still felt. During my tour in Iraq I lost a soldier and a close friend. My condolences to you Mila, and your children in this trying time. Know that we will care on his memory forever.

SGT Trevor J. Armstrong

My prayers condolences to my sister Mila and her kids Jacob and Johannah; to Bruce, Dolores, Doreen, and Jason; to Mike Jr. and friends of 1SG Michael Joseph Bordelon.

I was with my sister, Bruce, Dolores, and their relatives for the last painful remaining days of my brother-in-law, 1SG Michael Joseph Bordelon. I am very proud of Mike for his great courage to serve the country and to show to all of us how to fight in the midst of pain and suffering. What I saw on his unconscious yet breathing person in the ICU was a brave soldier who is always willing to offer the ultimate sacrifice for the cause of human freedom. As I prayed for him those final moments, I remembered the first Filipino saint, St. Lorenzo Ruiz, who invoked these words before cruel enemies who took his life: "If I have a thousand lives, I will gladly offer all to you (referring to the Almighty who is the Giver of Life and Freedom)."

Mike is always my hero. And, I am also proud of my sister Mila and the family of Mike (Bruce, Dolores, Doreen) for your sacrifices, too. You are in the midst of the most painful and trying times. But I just want to let you know that I am with you now and always as I was with you in those final days of our hero, Mike. You are always in my humble prayers. I love you all.

Note: I was very impressed by the support of military personnel and civilian volunteers during my stay at Brooke Army Medical Center. I am eternally grateful for everything you've done to us.

Rev. Romeo R. Rabusa

To "Little" Mike:

What an honor it was to meet you this weekend! Your mom says that you have your dad's ways (You definetly look like him! :o). Be proud of that! He was a great man, father, soldier, and friend. Just know that he has made an impression on so many people and will live on in each and every one of us, especially in his children! If you ever want to just sit down and talk about him or about anything, please give me a call! Good luck in football! I know that he'll be watching from above and smiling with pride!

please receive our prayers and grief at theloss of your soldier. we feel every loss but some are closer to home than others. we hope that you find peace in time thank you and god bless.

It will soon be 2 years since Mike's passing, however, it will not soon be forgotten.
To Mike's family, I wish to continue to extend my sincerest condolences even two years on.
I knew Michael in Mosul and cannot say how much his presence and spirit helped us all (military and civilian that knew him) survive the day to day hell that was Mosul during that time.
May God bless all that go in harms way to defend the things that are good.
