Greetings everyone,
Michael and I are off to Aspen in the morning so I thought I would post a short update. He received the fittings for all his arms this week and everything went well. (He even has one to use when lifting weights and working out) ;-) John J. is itching to get back into shape now that his profile has been lifted.
We are going to dinner tonight at Fran Obrien's tonight with the soldiers here and after that I need to get packed for the trip. Michael is already squared away and ready to go and I have not started yet. Does the word Procratination ring a bell?
We went to dinner with Cindy the other night. It was the day that Victor left and it was pretty emotional. She sure does miss her soldiers when they leave. I know Michael and I owe her so much for her help and support and really appreciate people like her.
Peggy and Steve Baker stopped by this week from Operation First Response and Steve surprised me with a goodie bag. :-) Red vines for Dad to eat with popcorn, what a treat. Believe it or not, red vines are hard to find around DC and I have been going through withdrawals. ha ha. Peggy and Steve are so helpful to the soldiers and their families around Walter Reed. It amazes me the energy levels of these people. God bless them all for what they do for us all.
Michael is adapting well to his new body activated arm, easier to control than the electronic one and more durable. Each has its own use and he will have to decide what one to use for the tasks at hand.. (bad pun I guess) :-P The company will paint the arms differently depending on the designs chosen by the soldiers. Right now it is between the camo pattern and the flames. I am thinking a camo pattern with a warhorse squadron picture would work well. The good thing is they can get sleeves to fit over the arms for different looks so who knows, maybe I can get him to have one that says "Love Mom" :-) with a big red heart.
(Probably not)
Michael has received numerous emails and comments from his interview on cspan and it amazes me how happy it made him feel. Normally, he is pretty shy when it comes to stuff like that. However, we have reached a milestone in his life and he said it was OK to publish his email address here on the site. (that way dad doesn't have to go through all them) ;-)
Granted, I am a good filter at times, but for the most part, comments have been positive and for that I am greatful. Anyway, his email is abninfeo@aol.com
Well, time to get ready for dinner. Take care all, God bless and If I can get online from the mountains, I will post how many times we fall in the snow.
Regards,
Mike Oreskovic
Comments For "Oreo update":
Mike & Michael,
Enjoy your time in Colorado, and remember to BREATHE deeply. That altitude can catch us sea-level folks off guard.

Hi Mike,
I just wanted you to know that you and your son are kept in our prayers. One day at a time. And may God keep pouring His blessings upon you. I'm glad that you update as I always wonder about ALL the other soldiers.

Have a great time!! And Todd's right about the altitude (lived in Denver for many years) - if you're feeling groggy and a little nauseous, it's probably your rapid ascent from sea level.
And Mike - don't pay any attention to those two year olds whizzing past you - :-)

Mike and Michael.....have a great time in Colorado. Have either of you skied before? Hope this outing gives you both time to relax and sort of forget the past couple of months. Should make you feel like you're at home.......with the snow and all. Please keep us updated as always and let us all know the fun you two are having. You're both always in our prayers. God Bless, Kathy (a Stryker Mom)

My wife and I watched part of the first airing, and all of the second.
I found this page by searching Oreskovic on google. You should try it! Lots of cool postings on what other people thought.
Anyways, my wife and I were like, HOLY CRAP Oreskovic is such a stud. I wrote down your last name so I could see if I could find anything online about your unit or something. Man, you're freaking AMAZING. Thanks for being such a stud as to join, to be hard, to be such a good example of your unit on TV. You are friggin' amazing. Serious.
You're 23 years old and you've not only kicked butt in Iraq, doing an awesome thing, but through your special experiences you've now been able to inspire so many people across the country. I loved it man!
Can I ask you a dumb question? Will you sign my copy of Sun Tzu?
Have a great day, thanks to you and your family for being who you are!

Maybe you can repost the stuff about the fundraiser from Oct 20th so people who watched CSPAN article (like me) can get more involved?
Plus we can all click on the banner ads to help support the Stryker News haha
