Greetings everyone,
Michael and I are off to Aspen in the morning so I thought I would post a short update. He received the fittings for all his arms this week and everything went well. (He even has one to use when lifting weights and working out) ;-) John J. is itching to get back into shape now that his profile has been lifted.
We are going to dinner tonight at Fran Obrien's tonight with the soldiers here and after that I need to get packed for the trip. Michael is already squared away and ready to go and I have not started yet. Does the word Procratination ring a bell?
We went to dinner with Cindy the other night. It was the day that Victor left and it was pretty emotional. She sure does miss her soldiers when they leave. I know Michael and I owe her so much for her help and support and really appreciate people like her.
Peggy and Steve Baker stopped by this week from Operation First Response and Steve surprised me with a goodie bag. :-) Red vines for Dad to eat with popcorn, what a treat. Believe it or not, red vines are hard to find around DC and I have been going through withdrawals. ha ha. Peggy and Steve are so helpful to the soldiers and their families around Walter Reed. It amazes me the energy levels of these people. God bless them all for what they do for us all.
Michael is adapting well to his new body activated arm, easier to control than the electronic one and more durable. Each has its own use and he will have to decide what one to use for the tasks at hand.. (bad pun I guess) :-P The company will paint the arms differently depending on the designs chosen by the soldiers. Right now it is between the camo pattern and the flames. I am thinking a camo pattern with a warhorse squadron picture would work well. The good thing is they can get sleeves to fit over the arms for different looks so who knows, maybe I can get him to have one that says "Love Mom" :-) with a big red heart.
(Probably not)
Michael has received numerous emails and comments from his interview on cspan and it amazes me how happy it made him feel. Normally, he is pretty shy when it comes to stuff like that. However, we have reached a milestone in his life and he said it was OK to publish his email address here on the site. (that way dad doesn't have to go through all them) ;-)
Granted, I am a good filter at times, but for the most part, comments have been positive and for that I am greatful. Anyway, his email is abninfeo@aol.com
Well, time to get ready for dinner. Take care all, God bless and If I can get online from the mountains, I will post how many times we fall in the snow.
Regards,
Mike Oreskovic
