Family members have confirmed the death of SFC Michael D. Jones. SFC Jones, 43, of Unity, ME fell ill shortly after flying back from Iraq to the United States. He died Thursday in a New York hospital after complications from surgery. SFC Jones was a member of Comapany A of the 133rd Engineer Battalion, Maine Army National Guard. The 133rd provided engineer support for both the 3/2 and 1/25 Stryker Brigades. The unit returned Wednesday night to Belfast, ME from Fort Drum, N.Y.
