(Email from Angel)
Evening folks,
The kids and I went down to visit with Travis this evening. Once again, it was an adventure getting to see him. While we did go directly to the proper hospital this time, when we walked in to his room the bed was empty!
Travis has a very special visitor this week in the form of his fiancée Dorothy who came over from the PI’s to spend the next 10 days with him. It seems Dorothy and Travis got a bit of cabin fever and they had gotten Travis up in to his chair and they were off wandering the facility.
Now, in theory it should not be to difficult to find them one would think….think again *laugh* After an hour and a half of searching, we finally managed to cross paths.
We all trooped back in side and went back to Travis’s room, and were shortly there after descended upon by the nursing staff whom had come in to get him back in to bed and then give him some meds and what not. The kids and I stepped out for part of this, then I had gone over to talk to Travis’s roommates mom who is here visiting for the next two weeks. Dorothy is actually sharing a room with Mrs. Williams at a near by hotel.
Once they had got him all settled and every one left again we got to talk for awhile. I have to say that Travis’s frame of mind is on a upswing with Dorothy here.
They have taken him off of much of his pain medicine, so he is having some very rough nights right now. They also started PT with him about 1 week ago, working on stretching and strengthening exercises for his right arm and contracture prevention stretches for the rest from the sound of it.
I think is morale could do with a big injection of love from everyone. Cards and letters would be most welcome I’m sure. I checked the connections tonight and there is a way we can wire up a DVD player so I’ll update on that shortly. Travis is hesitant for this appliance to be added, because he does not want to bother the nursing staff to change movies for him. I told him that’s fine, we’ll just be sure to get him really LONG movies.
The kids and I will be headed back down tomorrow to spend some time with him again. I refilled his Dr. Pepper supply tonight, and will be taking lemons, a salt shaker and a knife tomorrow, as well as more chocolate chip cookies.
Best regards,
Angel
