Soldiers' Angels sent us an alert regarding the last request of Specialist David Mahlenbrock, who was killed in Kirkuk, Iraq on December 3rd. David's family and friends are asking radio stations nationwide to play Toby Keith's "American Soldier" on December 15th at 1pm EST with a dedication to Specialist David Mahlenbrock. Blackfive has additional details, including the full text of his final letter, and Lt. Smash points to a site where you can find your local country music stations. Let's see if we can help.
Comments For "Soldier's Last Request":
We have two very popular, incredibly military supportive country stations here in St. Louis. They've already been e-mailed, and I will be listening. In fact, one of them is having a Support Our Troops fundraiser this Sunday near my home. I think I may attend for an in-person appeal.
My deepest sympathies to the family of this fine young hero!
I will do my best to get the radio stations to play Toby Keith's song. My sympathy to the family of this hero and a big thanks from me. God bless you all.
We have three country stations here in Kansas City.
I am forwarding the information to all of them.
To the family of our fallen hero, thank you so much for supporting such a generous soul. His sacrifice and yours can never be repaid. Please know...it was not in vain. Your countrymen mourn with you. I am very sorry for your loss.
Noble in life and noble in death. If you read his last letter you'll realize that the spirit of this soldier will NEVER die!
I am so sorry we have lost such a man here on earth - but I'm assured that NOTHING will keep this angel away from his family and his friends. They will feel his presence forever.
It is very appropriate that he be laid to rest amongst the other great heroes in Arlington.
I have sent this request to the local radio station in Winona, MN. Thank you to the family of this young man for their sacrifice. We are thankful. I will be praying...
I know that this request was in regards to the East Coast, however, I am in Washington and thought that it would be great if we can show our respects to this brave soldier and his family. Therefore, I have emailed my local country stations with this request also.
I have contacted z100 (New Yorks Music Station) and I know that it isn't a country music station but I believe everyone should be paying there respects to our country!! Hopefully they will be able to make this happen!!
Just wanted to let you know that I forwarded the request to WWYZ Country 92.5 in CT.. Today at 1:00PM EST, they followed through with the request. Thank you to WWYZ.

I have sent this request to the two country stations in Phoenix AZ. It is so simple a request for someone who has given himself for his country...

It is a nationwide request, they just listed the time to play the song at 1 pm EST, or 10am PST for us on the west coast.
