Mosul stable, Stryker Battalion rejoins brigade

MOSUL, IRAQ (November 15, 2004) –Iraqi Security Forces and Multi-National Forces from 1st Brigade, 25th Infantry Division (Stryker Brigade Combat Team) continued operations in Mosul yesterday as Soldiers from 1st Battalion 5th Infantry Regiment returned from Fallujah after successfully completing their mission there.

The situation in Mosul remains relatively calm with only isolated attacks occurring in the city. Yesterday, anti-Iraqi forces attacked the 4 West Police Station but Special Iraqi Police Commandos from the Ministry of Interior in Baghdad and MNF Soldiers responded and repelled the attack. Anti-Iraqi forces do not occupy or control any police stations in Mosul.

1st Battalion, 5th Infantry Regiment (SBCT) arrived in Mosul yesterday after successfully completing their mission in Fallujah. 1-5 Soldiers conducted operations in Fallujah last week returning to Mosul yesterday and reuniting with their parent unit in support of operations here.

Multi-National Forces and Iraqi Security Forces continue to root out the remaining pockets of sporadic resistance. Joint operations between the ISF and MNF will continue as necessary to maintain law and order in the region.
