WASHINGTON - President Bush paid a bedside visit to wounded soldiers on Tuesday, then predicted victory for their comrades in Iraq in their battle against terrorists "who want to stop democracy" there. [...]
The president and his wife, Laura, went from room to room in two wards of the Walter Reed Army Medical Center to visit privately 42 soldiers being treated for injuries ranging from broken bones and minor injuries to missing legs and severe skull injuries. The president also met with the family of a soldier who was in surgery.
Comments For "Bush Visits With Wounded Soldiers":
Our President continues to show his genuine support and empathy for our heroes.
I've heard so many stories about how our president does a lot of things like this, but he doesn't make them photo ops or politicize them. He stacked up more brownie points with me because of what I see as genuine care and concern.
Dear Mike & family,
What an honor to have met with the President and the First Lady. His respect for your son and his sacrifice is certainly expressed on his face as he salutes your son. He obviously feels what many of us do. Thank you for sharing such a moment with us all. I'm at work with tears in my eyes. Welcome home to 3/2. Prayers brought you home and prayers are with our 1/25.
I've been keeping track of Mike and his progress as well as that of Scott Thorne. I must say that the StrykerNews site was my salvation while my son (a Stryker, too) was in Iraq. My son returned to the US on October 24, and while I have not seen him yet (but, will on Thanksgiving Day), I have talked with him and you can hear the pride in his voice when he talks about the mission there and when he speaks of the dedication of the soldiers as they carried out their tasks.
Even though my son's unit has returned, I'll keep those who took their place in my prayers.
Thanks again to the StrykerNews site, it has been a lifeline to me.
