MOSUL, IRAQ (October 27, 2004) –Special Iraqi Police Commandos from the Iraqi Ministry of Interior and Multi-National Forces from 1st Brigade, 25th Infantry Division (Stryker Brigade Combat Team) detained 22 people wanted for anti-Iraqi activities Wednesday in northern Iraq.
Iraqi Police Commandos conducted cordon and search operations in Mosul and detained 15 suspected terrorists wanted for planning and conducting anti-Iraqi attacks against civilian and military targets in northern Iraq. All 15 suspects are in custody undergoing questioning with no injuries reported during the operation.
The Special Police Commando Battalion was brought to Mosul by Ninewah Governor Duraid Kashmoula to assist Iraqi Security forces in eliminating the anti-Iraqi elements operating in the city of Mosul. Governor Kashmoula is taking all necessary measures to rid Mosul of anti-Iraqi forces that are hindering progress and improvements in the lives of its citizens.
In another operation, Iraqi Police Commandos detained two anti-Iraqi personnel after they attacked the Mosul Public Safety Academy with small arms fire in northern Mosul. Commando soldiers in the area quickly responded, detaining the suspects as they attempted to flee.
In supporting operations, Soldiers from 3rd Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment detained five suspected terrorists wanted for anti-Iraqi activities during a cordon and search operation in Mosul. All suspects are in custody with no injuries reported.
