We've put together the following list of information regarding our site for those of you that may be visiting here for the fist time. About

This site was originally started as a way to share news regarding the Army's 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division (3-2 SBCT) following its deployment to Iraq in November of 2003. Since then we've made the decision to expand our coverage to include all of the Stryker Brigade Combat Teams ("SBCT") in the Army.

Operations Security ("OPSEC") & Comment Policy

In order to protect the safety of the deployed troops, contributors and visitors to this site must be aware of the Army's OPSEC guidelines, as well as own Comment Policy. Please read the following entry to understand better what information is safe to share in the public domain.

Stryker Brigade Basics

  • Stryker Brigade 101 - Trying to comprehend your soldier's address? Don't know where his/her unit fits into the big picture? Ranger Joe has prepared a very useful introduction to the organizational structure of the Stryker Brigades.

Site Features

In addition to the main page featuring news and information, we have added a number of additional areas to the site.

  • Bulletin Board - Despite our primary focus as a news and information site, I can easily say that our Bulletin Board, or Forum, is the most popular feature on our site. For the families and loved ones of deployed soldiers, the Bulletin Board offers an excellent opportunity to connect with others going through the same experience. I know many visitors skip the main page and go directly to the Bulletin Board (admit it, you do!).
  • Photo Gallery - We currently have approximately 11,000 photos that have been submitted by the soldiers or their families. Contributors maintain their own albums and add photos on a regular basis. If you would like to create your own album this entry will provide all the information you'll need.
  • Stryker Brigade News Shop - Through Cafe Press we have created an online store with a variety of Stryker-related items featuring designs donated to us by Eric Schoolcraft. Check back often since we plan on offering additional products in the future.

Other Info.

  • Archives - Entries remain on our main page for seven days; after that they are archived. Want to find an old entry? There are three ways to do this. 1) Use the "Search" function to search by keyword. 2) Browse entries by category. A list of our categories is included on the sidebar on the main page. 3) Browse entries by date. Underneath the categories is a drop-down menu where you can view entries by month.
  • Links Page - Please visit our links page if you'd like to do some of your own research. We've tried to provide a comprehensive list of resources on a variety of topics. In fact, I use this page everyday to find the news and information we post on the main page. Let us know if you find another site that we should add.
  • Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) - Have a question about our site? Before you send us an email be sure and check this page - the answer might be there.
  • Contact Us - Visit this page if you'd like to send an email to one of our contributors.
  • Terms & Conditions - Copyright policy etc.

Support Stryker Brigade News

Stryker Brigade News is maintained by a dedicated group of volunteers, but the cost of hosting and managing the site, in terms of time and money, can be significant for our contributors. Consequently, since many people have asked what they can do to support the effort we thought it would be helpful to put together a list of ideas for you.

Comments For "Introduction to the Site":

Great idea, Todd. I like the introductory info. It will be helpful to new people.

This is really informative. I just want to say that I hope the 1-25 SBCT utilizes this site as much as I did. Although not a frequent poster, I check in every day to see what's up. I can honestly say that I don't believe my sanity would be intact today, if it weren't for this site, especially in those early months of deployment. Thanks Todd, Mike and everyone who made this site possible. You're the best!

Thank you so much for continuing this site for 1st Brigade. We appreciate it. Caroline

good addition. Please consider putting the intro at the top of the website so that when someone first looks at the site AT ANY TIME they will see the info.

It is at the top of the main page.

"First time visitor? Our [Site Introduction] is a great place to start."

If you click [Site Introduction] it takes you to this entry.

My daughter passed this site to me. Her husband, my son-in-law is deployed to Iraq. I appreciate your sacrifices and service to our country and others that your serving in harm's way will free. God Bless, Chuck Shelton

This site was passed on by a friend. Keep up the good work!!! We do appreciate your sacrifice.......Thanks for your hard work.

Hi,Our grandson Jacob is a member of the mortar unit and we found his picture as part of the 1-24th IN battalion, mortar platoon. We love you Jake and all the family sends our warm wishes for a safe Thanksgiving, our thoughts and prayers are with you each and everyday. Love to you , Grandma and Grandpa Cheever

great site and informative. thanks for the support. my son in iraq 1-25/sent me this site.keep up the good work and keep the news and photos coming.

This is a wonderful idea. When one can't be with their loved one on a daily basis, this is a great way to feel closer. Wish there had been a site like this when my son was in the Marines. Though now I can check on my son-in-law and share in the excitement my daughter, his wife, does when she sees him in the photo gallery. God Bless you all.

I am the Uncle of Chris Naganuma 'SAWBOY' PVT2 Charlie Co. 1/25th. Like all of the family and friends of soldiers in this unit I await word on my nephew. His Grandparents and Parents will surely be the first to get any good or bad news and I am thankful to have found this site where perhaps some exchange of hope can be passed on. I wish all of you peace at this time of year.

Regards, Gary Naganuma Oakland, CA

My son is in Iraq with the stryker brigade, and I have been worried about him ever since I saw the attack they did, but I know god is with the soldiers and they all will be coming home soon, you all take care of one another, and god bless the USA!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just want to say like all the others, how great it is to keep in touch as best we can with our guys. Our son is with the 1/25 Stryker Brigade and we pray for him and all his buddies. There have been close calls, and we know God is keeping him and them in his care. Thanks to all the men and women over there willing to do a job that doesn't come easy. We pray for your safety. Thanks again for so much.

Just wanted to say a proud word for our two Army grandsons. Ben Spera, '04 Florida Tech grad, now a newly assigned 2/lt with the 3/2 SBCT.
His older brother, Aaron, is with the 1st Coscom of the 82nd airborne at nearby Ft. Bragg.
Godspeed to them and all the men & women around the world, especially in Irag.
Having been there, done that while in the USAF I know the feeling.

I have watched the C-Span broadcast with Michael Oskekovic twice now. What an individual!! I commend Michael for his bravery, knowledge and personal fortitude. My 14-year-old daughter and I have just watched it again, both of us with tears of pride in our soldiers. Michael, you are highly commended!!
May God continue to bless you and God bless America.

I just wanted to drop a note and thank you our Troops for your service and sacrifice. My pride makes this 40 yr old American wish he had joined your ranks when I was a younger man. The more I read of your efforts the more and more I am grateful for our brave men and women in the Armed forces. Hoo-ah!!!!

Females troops returning from Iraq…we want to thank you on TV!

If you’re a woman who has served in the U.S. military in Iraq or Afghanistan we want to give you props on “The Tyra Banks Show!” Tyra’s new talk show is taping on Friday, July 29th at 12:00 p.m. in Los Angeles, and she wants to give honor to female soldiers who have served in the military. If this is you or someone you know, we want to give you a salute on the show!! Please email Brian at Brian.Costello@TyraTV.com with two phone numbers and couple of sentences about your experience in the military.

Just found your site and am pleased as punch. Served in the 60s with B troop 1/14th ACR in Germany, so Scotts pictures were very moving. Regards to all in the current active family, and as they usde to say whem I was a cop, " Be careful out there."

My nephew, PFC Bucklin, HHC, 2/1, 172 SBCT, will be in Iraq soon and this website is a great source of information.

God Bless all of you!!

Carol

love the site and visit daily...my son spc e 172nd was recently deployed...my prayers and thoughts are with him and the entire unit...GODSPEED...

strykers ROCK!

Hey i think it's great that you have this site....but all you for the 172d, where's news about the 4-14 CAV from Ft. Wainwrigt? I loved the pictures from the deployment ceremony that strykerdad posted, but there weren't any pictures of the CAV which is a huge part of the coming operations. I think it's a disservice when all units fighting aren't included in the articles....
thank you!

Thank you for having this site available. Our son is also with the 172nd, recently deployed from Ft Wainwright.
Our prayers are with all of our brave servicemen & women. We are so proud of them all!

Outstanding site will return often

My son is also with the 2-1 Inf. 172d SBCT...from Ft. Wainwright.. God Bless our Soldiers

Hi, my name is Karen and my son Jason was deployed out of Fort Wainwright in mid August. He is a driver in the Stryker and is with the 172nd SBCT currently attached with the 2-1 inf. He has been in Mosul, Iraq for a few weeks now and when he calls each week he doesn't tell me much so I am hoping to learn a little about whats going on over there, here on this site. He sounds pretty good but a bit quiet so I know some of his missions are bad, but we're proud and concerned and are seeking some support. Thanks in advance!! Karen

Hi. My brother, Travis G, is currently serving in Iraq. Trav, if you see this, I love you & hope you are doing well! I am so proud of you and all of the other men and women protecting our country. To the rest of you, thank you so much for your service & sacrifice! I am praying for each and every one of you to come home quickly and safely! Thank you for this great site, it's a relief to have somewhere to go find current news specifically about our loved ones!

Thank you for all the hard work that goes into this site. It is a comfort to all of us who have family and friends serving with the 172nd Stryker Brigade.
Stryker Mom
