Memory Quilt for Task Force Olympia

A special group of folks, known on our Bulletin Board as the Tea Party Society, is creating a Memory Quilt to commemorate the Stryker Brigade and the other Units supporting Task Force Olympia.

This quilt will be made from the uniforms, clothing, flag colors and other memorabilia associated with the heroes who serve with these units. Each square will also contain the signature of the soldier and/or someone participating in the project (wife, mom, friend, fiance etc.)

When the quilt is finished, it will either be raffled off and the proceeds distributed to the families of those who sacrificed their lives for their country - or - donated to the Military Museum. The choice will be made by vote from those participating in the project.

Provided below is additional information on how to contribute to this great project.

Yvonne, who is in charge of this project, explains the details.

"Fabric pieces should be clean and cut to approximately 6 inches square. A copy of a signature - or just the name if you prefer - should accompany the fabric and a story about the participant and the soldier. The name of the unit should also be enclosed.

Fabric can be "photographed" now so if you'd like to send a photo, please choose one that will reproduce well so it shows well on the fabric.

I hope everyone will participate in this piece of making history. I was inspired by a quilt I saw recently commemorating the soldiers who fought in WWII. Quilts last well over 100 years. The Task Force Olympia quilt will be a piece of treasured history.

ALSO: ANYONE WHO WOULD LIKE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE ACTUAL CONSTRUCTION OF THE QUILT, WE WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR HELP! THIS IS A MASSIVE PROJECT AND WE CAN USE ALL THE HELP WE CAN GET!!! YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE A PRO TO DO THIS."
