The word Hero has been thrown around however in this case it is more than valid. Being in SGT Demand's platoon and being on the scene I know what happened. My husband is with a civil affairs team attached to the 3/2 brigade and has spent many days working with the 1/14 soldiers. To Sgt. Demand's family and friends I want to extend my most sincere condolences. May god rest his soul and my prayers are with you. My husband always had the most wonderful things to say about these soldiers and has been deeply affected by this tragedy.

We will continue to pray for the healing of the injured soldiers and for their safe trip home.

To Sgt. Demand's family & loved ones I can only say that you were blessed to have had such a wonderful person living amongst you. To hear from the soldiers that worked with him he was there for them 100% - not for himself. Please know that even as we pray for our own son to be returned to us safely - we will never forget the sacrifices Sgt. Demand made for his fellow soldiers. Let us all pray for an end to this madness sooner rather than later.

My condolences to the family and friends of Sgt Demand. I was the Medic for A.Co. 2/187 Infantry at Ft. Campbell when he was assigned there as a Pfc. Even though I was medically retired out in 99 due to injuries I remember him as a nice guy and a good soldier.

Hey Jakey-Boy. I Love You and I miss you more than I can say. We expect to meet a LT from your unit at the Apple Cup this weekend. His father-in-law sits 2 rows in front of us. We think we'll be feeding 21 at Thanksgiving at our new house. We're so sad you won't be there, but Ken and a couple other of your buddies are coming over from Ft. Lewis. They'll get to meet 18 or so of your family, hopefully including Grampa Henry and Sherry. I'll make sure they get your share of beer as well as food. Love Mom & Dad.
