AL KUSH, IRAQ (September 8, 2004) – A health screening was conducted in the city of Al Kush September 6 to assess the needs of citizens in the city and its surrounding areas.

The health screening was performed by medical professionals from the Multinational Forces. The doctors examined more than 100 people. The patients were given advice on medical conditions and some received medicine or vitamins that were not previously available at local clinics.

“We want to get a better understanding of the basic health condition in Iraq. We like to hear from the patients and know how they are feeling. We want them to know that we care about them as individuals,” said Lt. Col. Walter Franz, Chief of the Public Health Team from the 416th Civil Affairs Battalion.

The doctors were also able to determine what medicines are needed for the patients and what medical equipment will be needed for the local clinic. These supplies will be delivered during the next health screening.

Task Force Olympia continues to work with the citizens and leaders of Iraq to make it a safe, prosperous, and democratic nation.
