Susan recently sent me an email with updates on a couple projects she's working on. Read below for all the details.
Her Lavender Pillow project has really taken off. According to Susan:
[W]e have been receiving bags of lavender donated from people's personal plants to a lavender farm in Marysville... Several people have donated their sewing talents to putting the 'pillows' together. We have had orders from Costco for their employees overseas - 100 - and more from people whose husbands are in Iraq or shipping out. I say 'we' because this is a community project! We have decided to charge for them, only to help buy more fabric and use whatever is left over to buy products for the troops. No profit. We decided on 10 pillows (about 4 1/2" x 4 1/2") for $5.00.
Additionally, the VFW in Redmond has adopted units from the 3/2 & 1/25 Stryker Brigades, and will be holding a fundraiser on 9/12. From Susan:
They are holding a fund raising event for the troops to help out several units - my son's, their replacements and anyone else they can find!!! They are having a car wash on September 12th and I guess it will be big. They are located in Redmond on 148th Avenue. They would like to get as many moms of soldiers currently serving in Iraq to help, if possible.
If you would like additional information on either of these projects you can contact Susan directly by sending an email to susansutter(at)aol.com . Thanks Susan! Keep sending us updates.
