Solder to come home after neck injury in Iraq

A local soldier is recovering in a German military hospital after he broke his neck while on duty in Iraq.

Sergeant Justin Little, 24, was on night patrol Wednesday in Mosul, Iraq when the Stryker vehicle he was in went over a 30-foot embankment.

Thursday night Little's family in Longview learned that even though his neck is broken, he will not end up paralyzed. [...]

"Our soldiers need to know no matter where they are or where they're from, we're all proud of them," said mother Shirley Little.

Sgt. Little returns to the U.S. Saturday, but it could take three months for his body to heal.

His mother says it could be an entire year before he is fully recovered. Once he is better he plans to return to Army duty.
