Hello Todd,

Funny how you are so careful about opsec, and other information but you will print (and claim it's from a soldier in the 172nd) that nonesense about us being the best and most unique for the job. Funny, how those same exact words (verbatim) were used in the Press Release from the Pentagon. I love freedom of speech but I love how certain people claim they have our futures in thier hands and that Freedom needs to be bent a bit to satisfy others needs. Todd why don't you tell all the people who read this blog who really sent you that drivel from the front.
I don't expect you to print this just answer the truth for a change, or is that bad opsec!

Stryking Mad,

I'm not quite sure what you are implying, but I would be happy to put you in touch with the soldier who wrote that. I'd also be interested in seeing the press release you are referring to, can you send it to me? Also, if I'm a tool of the Pentagon, why would I publish this article?

On the "no politics" policy: this is one that the site itself violated (perhaps unintentionally) last August when it posted an article entitled "Why We Fight" by Victor Davis Hanson. Readers should be aware that Professor Hanson is one of the ideological architects of the Administration's strategy, a frequent contributor to right wing political magazines, and an occasional advisor to Vice President Cheney.

Consequently, the posting of such articles is an implicit political statement.

currahee,

Hhhmmm...couldn't find the August entry you are referring to. We did post an op-ed by him in September of 2005 with the title "Why We Must Stay in Iraq".

However, we did so b/c it mentioned LTC Kurilla, and we clearly mark it as an opinion piece and not a news piece. That's an important distinction for me, but perhaps not for our visitors.

We are 3 entries shy of 5,000, and if you found one that you believe is political then that is a ratio I can live with. ;)

Thanks for keeping us honest.

Todd

To whom it may concern,
I am a soldier in 2-23 INF., me and the other guys in the Batt. feel that we deserve some type of acknowledgement for our actions in the DRV. I dont want to break any type of OPSEC., so i will not specify our location. I will say that we have really made a difference in the region that we are fighting in. The only type of photographers or media that we have had are, combat camera and some spanish reporter. We feel that we deserve more recognition (US media) for what we have done. We are very angered at the thought that 2/2 CR has had much recognition since there first steps into Iraq and we havent had any type of praise from anyone. Although they did take over our AO so we could get things done in our current AO, they really turned things around in Baghdad, huh? HAHA Made more enemies than were there to begin with. We are a really great unit that has really done a number on our A.O. We came into a place where the only people to step foot in the area were Special Forces and Rangers. Therefore, it is only common sense that will tell you that the place is rough. We totally turned it around because of our lethality and relentlessness. We were very well trained prior to our deployment and it really shows with our impact that we have had on the Baghdad area and the DRV. These places were in total turmoil upon our arrival. As soon as we stepped into the picture things were totally changed. This is because of our dedication to the people and the desire to get the job done no matter what the situation. So please, i beg of you, come join us in our fight for a change in the DRV. See the before and after with us. It's fun to watch.
