Staff Sgt. Adam Colby, in tan fatigues and military boots, walked out of the gate at Philadelphia International Airport and did a double take at his waiting wife.

"My God, are you pregnant?" he said, putting his hand on her stomach and pulling her into a kiss. "You sure there's only one baby in there?"

The first thing his wife, Colleen Colby, 35, noticed was his new mustache and how much weight he had lost.

Monday was the first time Adam Colby, 39, and his wife had seen each other since his tour of duty in Iraq began six months ago. But the more than four days of travel to get on American soil was worth it, he said. Colleen is due to give birth to the couple's first child, a girl, in a matter of days.

A favor from two soldiers allowed Colby to take a two-week leave around the time his daughter, to be named Morgan Christine, is expected to make her debut.

A member of the 416th Army Reserve civil affairs unit, Colby is serving his first tour of duty in Mosul. He is in charge of a team providing security for military personnel who are helping rebuild the infrastructure.
