The membership of the John B. Handte American Legion Post 89 of Vestal thanks all of the students, parents, teachers and staff of the Vestal/Apalachin schools, businesses, people and communities of this valley for their overwhelming and generous donations in support of the Iraqi children and the soldiers of the 37th Field Artillery Battalion, Stryker Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division.

The contributions of needed school supplies, clothing, shoes, money and items for our GIs has had a very positive impact.

As of June 16, we had received $5,583 in donations, shipped 172 boxes weighing 2,974 pounds at a cost of $2,123 ($1,115 from Post 89), shipped 500 100-minutes phone calling cards -- one for each member of the battalion (and 28 longer-duration cards, your direct donations, for those with large families).
