Here's another great event organized by the 5-20 Family Readiness Group. On June 26 it is sponsoring "The Race for Home", a Stryker Family Run at Ft. Lewis. The race includes a 5k and a 10k run/walk. This is only as competitive as folks want it to be - it is for runners, walkers, and couch-potatoes alike. Provided below is a portion of the race flyer with all the details. Time to pull those running shoes out of deep-storage.
The Race For Home
The Race for Home is a race brought together by the wives of A Company, 5-20 Battalion, 3-2 SBCT. That is, the wives of the Strykers. This is a race for the Stryker Family as well as our friends. You need not be affiliated with the Stryker Brigade, only supportive of them. This race is open to the general public. Both the 10k and the 5k start at Cowan Stadium, building 2170 Bitar Ave, Ft Lewis. There will be NO day of race registration except for military ID card holders or anyone else who has access to post. The 10k begins at 9 am and the 5 k begins at 9:10 am. Packet pickup will be from 8-8:45 am. All preregistered participants will receive a very cool tshirt and winners in age categories get medallions.
Please contact race_for_home@yahoo.com for more information, with any question, or to support/sponsor our run. Or call the Ft Lewis sports office at (253) 967-2604 for more information.
As stated, this is open to the community and we can get non-military people on post if they preregister and give us the time to do the paperwork. We're really excited about it and would love a big show from the community, not just us wives.
