FORT LEWIS -- Juanita Dunas watched as her son, Vince, climbed into the turret on the Bradley armored vehicle and waved down at her. Minutes earlier, he had bounced from a military police car to a Stryker and then up inside the giant Bradley.
"He loves anything that has to do with Army vehicles," said Dunas, of Eatonville.
Vince, 8, and his friend, Nicholas Phipps, 9, were among the many children who took turns as small soldiers inside the massive, drab-green vehicles. For Vince, it was an incentive to someday join the military.
"I got to climb up there and wear a helmet and that was kind of fun," he said.
The display of armored vehicles and Humvees, along with weapons and other military equipment, was part of the annual celebration of Armed Forces Day held at Fort Lewis' Cowan Stadium.
