A vote for the military’s favorite “Survivor” could pay off big for the families of service members killed in Iraq.

If selected for the $1 million “fan vote,” retired Navy Master Chief Rudy Boesch vowed Monday to give half to the families of troops killed in Operation Iraqi Freedom.

“If I win the million dollars, I’m gonna donate $500,000 to the wives and kids of my buddies in Iraq that are getting killed,” said the straight-talking Boesch, a former Navy SEAL and 45-year veteran of the sea service, during an interview on the CBS morning program “The Early Show.”

During the “Survivor: All Stars” award show Sunday night, CBS announced a second million-dollar prize will be awarded Thursday night to the fans’ favorite contestant. The first $1 million prize was awarded to 25-year-old Amber Brkich, by a 4-3 vote from other contestants.

Fans of the popular CBS reality show have until Wednesday evening to vote for the contestant they want to win the second million. Votes can be made with a wireless phone, by text messaging the contestant’s name to 26161, or via the Internet at www.cbs.com/primetime/survivor8/polls/viewers_choice/index.shtml .
