MOSUL, IRAQ (Apr. 20, 2004) – Soldiers from 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division (Stryker Brigade Combat Team) detained eight people wanted for anti-Coalition activities and collected a variety of weapons and munitions Monday in northern Iraq.
Soldiers from 2nd Battalion, 3rd Infantry Regiment conducted cordon and search operations of four terrorist safe houses where eight men suspected of planning and conducting anti-Coalition attacks were detained.
Soldiers from 5th Battalion, 20th Infantry Regiment discovered a weapons cache consisting of 12 MA-57 fuses and two 57mm anti-aircraft rockets north of Qarrayaa. The weapons were destroyed and no injuries were reported.
Soldiers from the 416th Civil Affairs Battalion discovered four 120mm rounds buried near an Iraqi Civil Defense Corps check point approximately 22 kilometers west of Mosul. The munitions were destroyed and no injuries were reported.
