Mail from home a bit off target

Here is another article from the writer, Bill Nemitz, embedded with the Maine 133rd NG unit attached to TFO.

Spc. Tracy Jipson of Gorham, whose job includes sorting through three cartons of incoming mail a day, has an urgent request for the folks back home.

It seems that when the 133rd Engineer Battalion recently sent out guidelines for addressing mail, it began with the soldier's name, followed by "133rd HSC, A, B, or C Co." (the four companies that comprise the battalion) followed by "APO AE 09334."

Problem is, people sending mail are supposed to specify their soldier's company. Instead, Jipson said, many folks mistakenly list all four companies (just as they think they were told).

That forces Jipson to set aside those letters and cross-check them with the 500-plus-name battalion roster to ensure they get to the right company. And that slows down Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Allow the specialist to put her dilemma as delicately as she can.

"It's a pain in the butt," Jipson said, smiling sweetly.
Additional information available from the full article and is worth the read. It shows that even during times of stress, there is humor too. God bless them all and I pray they get the mail straightened out soon.
