MOSUL, Iraq, April 9, 2004 — Imagine two brothers, both in the Army National Guard, but from two different states, meeting for the first time in almost a year, thousands of miles away from their hometown of Parkersburg, West Va.

Sgt. Donald Sandy and Staff Sgt. Dave Sandy recently found themselves stationed together at Forward Operating Base Marez in Mosul, Iraq. Donald has been in Iraq for nearly a year supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom I, serving with the West Virginia National Guard's 1092nd Engineer Battalion.

Donald finally saw a familiar face on March 10, 2004, when his younger brother Dave arrived at FOB Marez supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom II, with the 268th Engineer Detachment from the South Carolina National Guard.
