Iraqi police detained three suspects during a planned, peaceful demonstration at Sadiq Rasham Mosque. The suspects were found with hand grenades and AK-47s in their possession in violation of approved guidelines.
The demonstration itself, which included about 600 people, followed approved guidelines in which demonstrations must stay in the vicinity of the requested and approved location. It also must remain peaceful for the safety and rights of others who do not express the same issues and concerns of the demonstrators. Today’s activities show that demonstrations can be approved by the Ninevah Province Governor and local Coalition commander, and can be conducted peacefully.
