Friends and family of Pfc. Bruce Miller Jr., who was killed nearly two weeks ago in Iraq, gathered at an East Orange church yesterday to remember a man they said was hardworking, giving and gentle.
Catherine Murphy, Miller's science teacher at the Teaneck Community School, said he was a wonderful student who "never let up."
Before leaving her West Milford home yesterday morning, she looked through an old yearbook in which her former student was mentioned repeatedly for scholarships, awards and school activities.
"He was a tenacious kid," Murphy said. "When he wanted to know something, he didn't let anything get in his way."
