Two N.H. Guardsmen injured in firefight

CONCORD - Two soldiers with 2nd Battalion, 197th Field Artillery, a New Hampshire Army National Guard unit stationed in Iraq, were injured on Sunday, March 28, during a firefight with insurgents in Mosul.

Sgt. Jason H. Weaver, 30, of Franklin, suffered a gunshot wound to his lower left leg and Spec. Gerard A. Lamson, 26, of Ashland, received shrapnel wounds to both hands after their patrol was attacked at about 4 p.m. Iraqi time on Sunday.

Both soldiers are members of Bravo Battery in Plymouth.

Four insurgents were killed during the exchange, according to information provided by the New Hampshire National Guard.
